What does our resume & CV writing service include?
Résumé and CV writing is the process of researching a candidate’s career history and target role, then structuring that evidence into a document a recruiter — and the software that screens for them — can assess in seconds. Swift Academic Services writes and edits professional résumés, academic CVs, executive profiles, federal and PSU applications, and country-specific formats (US, UK, Germany, Europass, Australia, Canada, Gulf). Every document is written by a sector specialist, keyword-matched to your target role, tested against applicant tracking systems, reviewed by a senior editor, and delivered in editable Word plus print-ready PDF, with a first draft in 24–48 hours and free revisions for 14 days.

Every form of résumé and CV we write
A hiring manager, an admissions committee and a university search panel each want a completely different document. We write all of them — and we will tell you which one your situation actually calls for.
Professional Résumé
The private-sector standard — one to two pages, achievement-led, keyword-matched to your target role and built to parse cleanly through any applicant tracking system.
Academic CV
For faculty, PhD, postdoc and fellowship applications. Publications, conferences, grants, teaching portfolio, supervision and service — sequenced the way search committees read them, with no page limit.
Executive & Leadership CV
Director, VP and C-suite profiles built around P&L ownership, transformation, board exposure and scale — with a leadership narrative rather than a task list.
Fresher & Graduate Résumé
No work experience yet? We build from projects, internships, coursework, competitions, certifications and positions of responsibility into a document that competes on potential.
Technical & IT Résumé
Software, data, DevOps, cloud, embedded and QA. Correct tech-stack taxonomy, project depth and impact metrics — written by people who understand what you actually built.
Healthcare & Nursing CV
Clinical résumés and CVs with registrations, licensure, rotations, competencies and CPD presented to NMC, HCPC, NCLEX, AHPRA and Indian council expectations.
Government, PSU & Federal
Long-form applications where every eligibility criterion must be evidenced explicitly — including selection-criteria responses and structured competency statements.
Country-Specific Formats
US résumé, UK CV, German Lebenslauf, Europass, Australian selection-criteria CV, Canadian résumé and Gulf CV — each to its own local convention, not a translated copy.
Research & Scientific CV
Bio-sketches, funding CVs and research profiles for grant bodies and labs — publications in the required citation style, with metrics, funding history and collaborations.
Cover Letters
Role-specific letters that argue a case rather than restate the résumé — plus motivation letters, statements of purpose and academic letters of application.
LinkedIn Profile Optimisation
Headline, About, experience and skills rewritten for recruiter search — so the profile they check after your résumé reinforces the same story.
Résumé & CV Editing
Already have a draft? We restructure, rewrite weak sections, fix the formatting that breaks parsers, and return a tracked-changes copy so you can see every change.
Résumé vs CV: which one do you actually need?
The two words are used interchangeably in India — but to a US recruiter or a UK search committee they are different documents with different rules. Sending the wrong one is one of the most common reasons good candidates are filtered out.
| Aspect | Résumé | Academic CV |
|---|---|---|
| Purpose | Win an interview for a specific job | Evidence scholarly standing for academia, research or fellowships |
| Length | 1–2 pages, strictly edited | No limit — 3 to 15+ pages as your record grows |
| Focus | Achievements and measurable impact | Publications, research, grants, teaching and service |
| Tailoring | Rewritten for every application | Largely stable; a cover letter does the tailoring |
| Publications | Omitted, or one line | Full list in the required citation style, often the longest section |
| Screened by | ATS software first, then a recruiter | A human search committee of subject peers |
| Typical users | Industry, corporate, startups, government | Faculty, postdocs, PhD applicants, researchers, clinicians |
| Regional note | Standard term in the US, Canada and India | In the UK, EU and Australia “CV” often just means résumé |
Not sure which applies to you? Send us the job advert or call for applications and we will tell you honestly — including when the shorter, cheaper document is the right one.
Country-by-country CV conventions we write to
A photograph is expected in Germany and disqualifying in the United States. A UK CV opens with a personal statement; an Australian public-sector application demands separate selection-criteria responses. We write to the local rulebook — never a translated template.
| Country / region | Called | Length | Photo | Personal details | What matters most |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| United States | Résumé | 1–2 pages | No — omit | No DOB, age, marital status or gender | ATS keywords and quantified achievements |
| United Kingdom | CV | 2 pages | No — omit | No DOB or photo | Personal statement on top, then achievements |
| Germany | Lebenslauf | 1–2 pages | Customary, though optional under the AGG | DOB and place of birth still common | Tabular layout, dated, plus certificates (Zeugnisse) |
| EU institutions | Europass CV | 2–3 pages | Optional | Structured personal section | The prescribed Europass sections for EPSO and EURES |
| Australia / NZ | Résumé or CV | 2–4 pages | No — omit | No DOB or photo | Separate responses to stated selection criteria |
| Canada | Résumé | 1–2 pages | No — omit | No DOB or photo | US-style, but French for Québec employers |
| UAE & the Gulf | CV | 2 pages | Commonly included | Nationality, DOB and visa status expected | Visa/notice status and regional experience up front |
| India | Résumé / CV | 1–2 pages | Optional | DOB still common; increasingly dropped | Clean ATS build for MNC and GCC hiring |
| Global academia | Academic CV | No limit | No — omit | ORCID, Scopus and Google Scholar IDs | Publications, grants, teaching and citation metrics |
How we get your CV past the applicant tracking system
Before a person ever reads it, most résumés are parsed by software. Roughly 99% of Fortune 500 companies screen applications through an applicant tracking system, and 88% of employers say they lose qualified candidates simply because a résumé was not built to be read by one. A typical online vacancy draws 250+ applicants — of whom only about four to six reach interview.
⚠️ What breaks a parser
- Multi-column layouts and text boxes that scramble reading order
- Contact details hidden in the header or footer, where many parsers never look
- Tables and graphics used for structure instead of plain text
- Skill ratings shown as bars, stars or dials that carry no readable value
- Invented section names — “My Journey” instead of “Work Experience”
- Icons standing in for the words “phone”, “email” or “location”
- Decorative or non-embedded fonts, and text saved inside an image
- Scanned or image-only PDFs with no extractable text layer
✅ What we do instead
- Single-column, linear build that parses in the order a human reads
- Standard section headings the software is trained to recognise
- Keywords mapped directly from your target job description, in natural sentences
- Both the spelled-out term and the acronym — “Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)”
- Consistent, machine-readable date formats throughout
- Achievements written as verb + action + measurable result
- Delivered as editable .docx and a text-layer PDF, so you can submit either
- Parse-tested before delivery, so we see what the software sees
A word of honesty: no writer can guarantee an interview, and anyone promising one is selling you something. What we can control is that your document is accurate, evidence-led, correctly formatted for its market and fully readable by the systems that screen it — so the decision is made on your merit rather than on a formatting fault.

The eight mistakes we correct most often
After thousands of résumés, the same faults recur. Check your own draft against these before you send it anywhere.
Listing duties instead of achievements
“Responsible for managing the social media accounts.”
“Grew Instagram following from 4k to 27k in 11 months, lifting inbound enquiries 34%.”
A job description says what you were assigned. A résumé should say what changed because you were there.
No numbers anywhere
“Improved team efficiency significantly.”
“Cut month-end close from 9 days to 4 by automating three reconciliation reports.”
If nothing is measured, every claim reads as opinion. Even approximate figures beat adjectives.
An objective statement at the top
“Seeking a challenging role in a reputed organisation to utilise my skills.”
“Supply-chain analyst, 6 years in FMCG distribution; cut logistics spend ₹1.2 Cr in FY24.”
Objectives describe what you want. The opening lines should describe what the employer gets.
A designer template that will not parse
Two columns, a sidebar, skill bars and the contact details inside the header.
Single column, standard headings, contact details in the body text.
The prettiest résumé in the pile is worthless if the software reads it as gibberish.
One résumé sent to every vacancy
The same file uploaded to forty different postings.
A base document, retargeted per role using that advert’s own vocabulary.
Screening ranks against the job description. A generic file ranks generically.
Personal details that are illegal abroad
Photo, date of birth, marital status and father’s name on a US application.
Name, phone, professional email, city, LinkedIn — nothing more.
Common on Indian résumés, but in the US, UK and Canada it forces recruiters to discard the file for compliance reasons.
Unexplained gaps and vague dates
“2021 – 2023” with an unaccounted eighteen months before it.
“Mar 2021 – Aug 2023”, with a one-line note for career breaks or study.
Recruiters do not assume the worst about a gap you explain — only about one you hide.
Publications formatted inconsistently
Mixed APA and Vancouver, no DOIs, authorship order unclear.
One citation style throughout, DOIs live, your own name emphasised.
On an academic CV the publication list is the evidence. Inconsistency there reads as carelessness in research.
From first message to final file in five steps
Send what you have
WhatsApp or email your current résumé — or just your details if you are starting from nothing — along with the role or programme you are targeting. The review and quote are free.
Brief and writer match
A short questionnaire or a call captures the achievements that are missing from your draft. We assign a writer who knows your sector, whether that is embedded systems, oncology nursing or public policy.
Draft written and keyword-mapped
Your writer builds the document around evidence, then maps it to the vocabulary of your target job description or call for applications.
ATS test and senior review
We run the file through a parser to confirm every section is read correctly, then a senior editor checks accuracy, tone, consistency and country conventions.
Delivery and revisions
You receive editable Word and print-ready PDF versions, plus guidance on tailoring it yourself in future. Revisions are free for 14 days.
Why candidates trust Swift with their career documents
Experience
3,500+ résumés and CVs written since 2018 for candidates in 40+ countries — from first-year graduates to professors and senior executives.
Expertise
Writers hold postgraduate degrees and write only within the sectors they know. Academic CVs are handled by researchers who have sat on the other side of a shortlisting panel.
Authoritativeness
Every document passes two desks — the specialist writer and a senior editor — plus a parser test. Nothing is delivered on a single pair of eyes.
Trustworthiness
We write only what is true of you. No invented employers, no fabricated degrees, no inflated titles. Your documents stay confidential, with NDAs on request.
Résumé and CV terms, explained
Applicant Tracking System (ATS)
Software employers use to receive, parse and rank applications. It converts your file into structured data and scores it against the job description before a person sees it.
Reverse-chronological format
The default structure: roles listed newest first. Preferred by recruiters and parsed most reliably, suitable for most candidates with a continuous work history.
Functional (skills-based) format
Groups content by skill rather than by job. Useful after long gaps or a career change, but treated with suspicion by some recruiters and parsed poorly.
Hybrid / combination format
A skills summary followed by a full chronological history — the compromise we most often recommend for career changers.
Professional summary
Three or four lines at the top stating who you are, your evidence and your value. Replaces the outdated “objective” statement.
Achievement statement (CAR / STAR)
A bullet written as Context, Action, Result — or Situation, Task, Action, Result — so each line proves impact rather than listing a duty.
Keyword optimisation
Mirroring the exact terminology of the job advert, including both acronym and full form, so the ranking algorithm and the recruiter both recognise a match.
Lebenslauf
The German CV: tabular, factual, usually dated and signed, traditionally with a photograph, and normally submitted with scanned certificates (Zeugnisse).
Europass CV
The European Commission’s standardised CV structure, still expected for many EU institution, EPSO and EURES applications and some academic mobility schemes.
Bio-sketch
A short, strictly formatted research biography required by funding bodies, covering positions, honours, selected publications and contributions to science.
Selection criteria response
Used in Australian and some public-sector applications: a separate document answering each stated criterion with worked examples.
Parse test
Running a finished résumé through parsing software to confirm every field is extracted correctly — the check that catches formatting faults before an employer does.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a résumé and a CV?
A résumé is a concise, one-to-two-page marketing document tailored to a specific job and focused on achievements. An academic CV is a complete, unlimited-length record of scholarly work — publications, grants, teaching, conferences and service. In the US and Canada the two words mean different documents; in the UK, Europe and Australia “CV” is often used loosely to mean a résumé. Send us the advert and we will confirm which one is expected.
How much does resume writing cost?
It depends on your experience level, the type and number of documents, and how quickly you need them — so we do not publish a single headline figure that would be wrong for most people. Send us your current CV and the role you are targeting: the review is free, and you will receive a firm written quote before any work begins, with no obligation to proceed.
How long does it take to write my résumé?
A first draft reaches you in 24–48 hours for most résumés. Full academic CVs with long publication lists typically take three to five days. Same-day express delivery is available on request — message us with your deadline and we will confirm before you pay.
Will my résumé pass the ATS?
We build every document to be parsed correctly: single-column layout, standard section headings, no text boxes or tables used for structure, contact details in the body rather than the header, and keywords drawn from your target job description. We run a parse test before delivery to confirm the software reads every field. No honest writer can guarantee an interview, but we can make certain your application is never rejected because of a formatting fault.
Do you write academic CVs for faculty and PhD applications?
Yes — this is one of our strongest areas. We write academic CVs, research statements, teaching philosophies, bio-sketches and cover letters for PhD admission, postdoctoral positions, faculty roles, fellowships and grant applications, with publications formatted in the citation style your discipline expects.
Can you write a CV for a specific country?
Yes. We write US résumés, UK CVs, German Lebenslauf, Europass CVs, Australian applications with selection-criteria responses, Canadian résumés and Gulf-region CVs — each following its own local convention on length, photographs, personal details and structure, rather than a translated version of one template.
I already have a résumé. Can you just edit it?
Yes, and it is often the better value. We restructure the document, rewrite weak sections into achievement statements, fix formatting that breaks parsers and align it to your target role. You receive a tracked-changes copy so you can see exactly what was altered and why, plus a clean final version.
Will you invent experience to make me look better?
No. We write only what is true of you. We will find achievements you have overlooked, express them in far stronger language and present them in the right structure — but we will not add employers, degrees, titles or results you did not earn. Anything fabricated tends to collapse at interview or reference stage, and it is not a service we offer.
How many revisions do I get?
Revisions are free for 14 days after delivery — two rounds on the Essential package and unlimited rounds on Professional, Executive and Academic packages. Most clients settle within one or two rounds.
Is my information kept confidential?
Yes. Your documents and personal details are never shared, published, added to any sample library or used for marketing. Files are handled only by the writer and editor assigned to you, and we sign an NDA on request.
What file formats will I receive?
An editable Microsoft Word (.docx) file and a print-ready PDF with a full text layer, so you can submit whichever the employer’s portal asks for and update the document yourself later. Plain-text versions for online forms and Europass or Lebenslauf conversions are available on request.
Do you write cover letters and LinkedIn profiles too?
Yes. A tailored cover letter and a LinkedIn headline and About section are included in the Professional package, and a full LinkedIn profile rewrite comes with the Executive and Academic package. Both can also be bought separately as add-ons.
Can I meet you in person in Hyderabad?
Yes. Clients in Hyderabad and Warangal are welcome to visit either office for a consultation, and same-day collection or delivery can be arranged for urgent applications. Everyone else works with us over WhatsApp, email and video call — which is how the large majority of our clients across India and 40+ countries work with us.
Do you help with SOPs and personal statements?
Yes. Statements of purpose, personal statements, motivation letters and letters of recommendation are available as add-ons, and they pair naturally with a CV for university, scholarship and fellowship applications. See our documentation services for the full range.
Send us your CV — the review is free
Tell us the role you are chasing and we will tell you honestly what your current document is doing wrong. First draft in 24–48 hours.
